Edington & Shapwick School celebrates Headmasters' 25th anniversary
David Walker, Joint Headmaster at Edington & Shapwick School has recently celebrated his 25th anniversary at the helm of the country's first and largest specialist school for dyslexic pupils.
David joined the school in 1983, and together with fellow Joint Headmaster, Jon Whittock (who has been with the school for an impressive 27 years) has supported thousands of children to successfully overcome the challenges presented by their dyslexia. This years' GCSE results were very impressive with a record 70% of children gaining five or more A* to C grades.
The school is spread across two campuses - Edington for boys and girls aged 8 to 13 years and Shapwick for those aged 13 to 18 years. A broad curriculum is offered and children benefit from a dedicated team of Speech & Language and Occupational Therapists.
David commented "I am so proud of the pupils' success which is all the more impressive considering the challenges they face, and always keen to hear their news after they have left the school. I am supported by a dedicated and experienced team, and look forward to helping more pupils over the coming years".
