Year 7 pupils at Edington School recently visited ‘Tropiquaria’ near Minehead as part of their Life-Science studies.

The children viewed vertebrates and invertebrates, some at very close quarters, and particularly enjoyed the opportunity to handle certain reptiles, including a beautifully marked python.

Mrs Irons organized the trip and commented “The two iguanas were amazing creatures and loved being stroked by the children because their eyes closed and their heads went back while they were being touched!

The children also had the opportunity to draw one of the creatures from direct observation and produced some very good results. The children learnt many new facts from our guide and the comments in their written reviews suggested that it had been a very worthwhile experience”.
