Pupils at Edington School are celebrating their literacy success again with Grace Battye from Year 8 coming third in the annual ‘Poetry in Print’ competition, which is a national competition for all school age children.

Grace was awarded a cash prize for herself and the school; and her poem is published in the anthology.

Pupils at the specialist school for dyslexic children frequently enter poetry competitions, and they enjoy seeing their poems in print, regardless of whether they are winners or not.

Grace’s achievement adds to the school’s recent record of poetry success. Katie Williams won an ipod nano last year in a poetry competition organised by ‘The Newspaper’, and two of the school’s younger pupils had their poems selected for publication in the 2006 Young Writers poetry competition.
