Sue Chubb, who worked at Shapwick School since the mid-1980s, passed peacefully away at home on the 7th May 2009. All pupils and staff at the specialist school for dyslexia were very saddened by the loss of such a popular and respected member of staff, and a special Thanksgiving Service was recently organised in St Mary’s Church, Shapwick to allow everyone to pay their last respects. 
On Saturday 13th June Shapwick School pupils enjoyed ‘all the fun of the fair’ when they joined in the Shapwick village fete. The sun shone and everyone had a great time with the local community. 
Shapwick School Art Day is a totally unique event and one greatly enjoyed by the pupils, staff, and guests. Now in its tenth year, over twelve professional artists are already looking forward to taking part on Wednesday 8th July.
The Therapy Team at Shapwick School has worked in partnership with the University College Plymouth St Mark and St John (MARJON) since 2006, and its links with the University are going from strength to strength. 
Year 9 pupils from Shapwick School recently enjoyed a workshop led by The Somerset Waste Action Programme (SWAP) about composting. 
The Year 4-6 Juniors at Shapwick Prep recently visited a Victorian School, near Minehead, as part of their historical studies. 
During the weekend of the 9th and 10th May, six Year 11 Shapwick School pupils successfully completed the Ten Tors challenge on Dartmoor. At a special assembly the boys were presented with their medals and certificates by Major General Alan Macklin.

Shapwick Preparatory School pupils enjoyed an exciting start to the new summer term with the addition of a new adventure playground. 
Shapwick School, which specialises in supporting children with dyslexia, is proud to present its new set of Champion Readers who have each earned their bronze or silver badges.
